Why is team building important?
If you manage a team, whether a few people or many, getting them to work together and and produce results is important. Managers need to facilitate positive relationships between team members and ensure each member of the team is in the proper role, allowing them to excel at their duties.
High performing teams have members whose skills and attitudes enable them to achieve team goals. If your team isn’t performing up to your expectations, it may be because of one of these reasons:
- Team may not have clear goals or performance metrics
- Team may be composed of the wrong people with the wrong set of skills for the task at hand
- The team dynamics may not foster creativity and good decision making
- The team may not known how to solve its own problems and improve performance
- The team has an inability to systematically engage in team-building activities
If any of these bullet points resonate with you, team building exercises and training may be beneficial. Team building exercises should be an annual activity for most business with teams that work closely with one another. Room escapes can help with team building
Troubled Puzzles would love to help you with your team building! Escape rooms are a fun and engaging activity for corporate team building. Escape rooms force players to communicate and work together in order to successfully escape, sharing ideas and using critical thinking skills in the process.
While having your team come play our escape rooms is fun and team-centric, simply playing escape rooms won’t provide lasting results that truly benefit your company. Providing personality assessments of your team members prior to the escape rooms will help you understand the strengths and weaknesses of your team members, as well as who may work well together, or not.
During the escape rooms, our gamemasters can take notes and make observations on who communicates well, who takes the leadership role and how others react to disagreement. As a manger, you can sit and watch your team members play the room and take first-hand notes yourself.
Afterwards, a debriefing is important, to hear the thoughts of your team members and discuss what they found difficult. More in-depth competencies, such as goal setting and dispute resolution, cannot be fully explored during escape rooms, but they are a great starting point for strengthening relationships and encouraging communication and trust between team members.
